PCI bus plug and play
PCI-7248/96/24 uses a PCI controller specific integrated chip to connect to the PCI bus. This chip fully complies with the PCI local bus specification version 2.1. All bus related configurations, such as base address and interrupt allocation, are fully automated by hardware and PCI BIOS. It does not require users to learn the structure of the PC in advance. This reduces the burden of searching for idle configurations. Therefore, it can save a lot of time compared to using ISA bus cards.
Parallel digital quantityI/O
The circuit on the board simulates the industrial standard 8255 Programmable Peripheral Interface (PPI) chip. PCI-7296/48/24 provide 4/2/1 PPI chips respectively. Each PPI provides three 8-bit ports: PA, PB, and PC. The PC is further divided into two 4-bit ports. Each digital channel has an independent pin on the OPTO-22 interface. All 96/48/24 digital I/O channels are capable of providing 24mA current for applications that require high drive capability.
programmable timer/counter
PCI-7296/48/24Each board in the series has a programmable timer/counter chip to generate periodic interrupts to the main processor. The timer/counter chip is 82C54, which includes three 16 bit counters.
One of the counters is used as an event counter to count events from the input channel. The other two are cascaded together to form one32-bit timer (can be used to control the speed of interrupt generation).
Dual Interrupt System
PCI-7296/48/24Can accept two interrupt sources. One interrupt source comes from an I/O port or event counter, while the other comes from an I/O port or timer. The dual interrupt structure can be flexibly applied to any industrial application field. For users who do not wish to use interrupts, software can be used to turn off interrupts, so that the PCI Plug and Play BIOS will no longer allocate any interrupt vectors to this card.
